EVENT   Born on March 25. Baptism  At the age of 5 she would climb up the stairs on her knees, praying a Hail Mary at each step.  1° vision: Jesus Christ as Supreme Pontiff with Sts. Peter, Paul and John the Evangelist.     Her parents wish her to marry and to make herself unbecoming, Catherine cuts her hair. Her father sees a dove posed over her head while she prays.  She reveals her vow of virginity.  Year of extraordinary fastings and penances.  She enters the Dominican Order as a tertiary. Spiritual Marriage: receives the ring. Jesus asks her to dedicate herself to work for the good of her neighbor. Exchanges hearts with Christ.  First letters (political)  The Pope grants her three confessors to receive the numerous penitents.   Participates in the General Chapter of the Dominican Order where her spiritual group is approved under the care of Blessed Raymond of Capua.  In summer she returns to Siena, to dedicate herself to the victims of the plague.  During autumn she makes a pilgrimage to see Saint Agnes of Segni, the first Dominican saint.  April 1st, Palm Sunday: receives the stigmata.  Travels to dissuade the political leaders from joining the league against the Pope.  On June 18, she travels to meet with the Holy Father to convince him to return to Rome.  On September 13, she again convinces the Pope to go forward with his trip.  On January 17, she succeeds in bringing about the return of Pope Gregory XI to Rome.  Travels to reconcile the powerful Salimbeni family.   She is sent by the Pope to Florence to negotiate peace which was granted and signed on July 18.  On March 23, Pope Gregory XI dies.  Urban IV becomes Pope, the beginning of the Western Schism. In October she writes Dialogue of Divine Providence. On November 28, she arrives at Rome by summons of the Holy Father.  February: she becomes sick to the point of remaning prostrated by the weight of the "Vessel of the Church" under her shoulders. She dies on April 29th.  Her head which is incorrupt is moved to Siena.  Canonization by Pope Pius II.  The Holy Father Pius IX proclaims her co-patron of Rome.  Proclaimed by the Supreme Pontiff Pius XII as co-patron of Italy.  Pope Saint Paul VI recognizes her with the title Doctor of the Universal Church.  Saint John Paul II proclaims her co-patron of Europe. 
      Makes vow of virginity.  They begin to treat her as a servant.  The vision of Saint Dominic She moves to her cell    Her visions, ecstasies and dialogues with Christ begin.    A "family" of people is formed around her who seek her guidance.  Visions of heaven, hell and purgatory.  Exhorts the Holy Father to return to Rome.    The Blessed Raymond is named as her spiritual director.                Receives the extraordinary light concerning the Truth which later would become The Dialogue.     Begins to write many letters in support of the Pope.        Buried in the Basilica "Santa Maria Sopra Minerva", Rome.
